FAQWhat is Dru Hunter's favorite animal? Dru Hunter loves all animals so this question is very difficult for her to answer. Land and water predators have always been a special interest to her so she is fascinated by all the big cats, bears and wolves. When she scuba dives she loves to find sharks, sea snakes and dolphins. But if she could only choose one animal as her favorite it would be the wild mustang because of its beauty, history, strength and grace. Dru named her film company after the wild mustang and she writes about the animal in one of her upcoming novels.
![]() Wolf ![]() Is there a mouse and cat hidden on every page of ALREADY ASLEEP?
Almost every page. Sometimes in the smaller pictures there is more than one cat and mouse on a page. Have fun finding them! ![]() Where does Dru Hunter get her ideas?
Dru got the idea for ALREADY ASLEEP and the NATURE'S BOUNTY series from her experience growing up on a farm in Florida, and her parents' ranch in Texas, The Goose's Roost, where they have a lot of animals, such as birds, horses, donkeys, cows, and wild coyotes, bobcats, and mountain lions. One of her favorite Mother Goose 4 verse rhymes, written hundreds of years ago called, Diddle Diddle Dumpling, was the inspiration for her first picture book. Dru tried to imagine what would make the boy John, from the Mother Goose rhyme, so tired if he lived in the 21st century. Then it came to her: "A day of baseball, bugs, trucks, and trees." And from there her story grew to include characters like a daughter, dog, pig, pony, and a dad. |
